Troubleshooting the Alcatel Speed Touch Home Modem
 
1. First you must verify link lights on the NIC and the back of the modem.
 
2. Next you must configure TCP/IP for a static assignment.
    Be sure to save all changes when complete.
    You must reboot your computer afterwards for all changes to take effect
 
3. Now ping the manually assigned gateway IP address.  ( 10.0.0.138 )
 
4. Does it reply ?
YES - If it replies either the modem or the DSL line is having problems seeing the Bellsouth network.
           (replace modem if the line tests clean)
NO - If it times out here there is an issue within the PC or the cabling between the NIC and the modem.
         (troubleshoot for tcp/ip and NIC drivers ect.)
